The idea of this name come from a pair of lovebirds, given us by a Japanese friend, which we called Taka and Yaka. We had just had to leave the business POINT A LA LIGNE which we had started on the 1st of April 1968 and developed for 20 years to cover 45 countries, POINT A LA LIGNE is a fine novel and a fine story.

TAKAYAKA, JAPANISATION OR PROVOCATION ?

According to Mistler Hiroshi IWAI this could be taken to mean "Climb to the mountaintop". We decided to adopt this image, full of hope. "So do it!" TAKAYAKA was started on the 1st of April 1989 to create, imagine and produce. Share the light, perfumes, materials, colours and flavours, everything that is born from the emotion of meetings. For both of us, creation is often spontaneous and often comes from things we happen to find at our feet. Our first candle, made in 1967 was born of a block of paraffin wax which we found on an Atlantic beach. A meeting with our destiny. We had no idea that just a few years later we would be manufacturing up to 300,000 candles a day! The journey was rich, in obstacles but also in joy and fascinating meetings. Love, friendship, passions... still help us grow. The flame is always there, it is vital – indispensable. With Monique and Myline, TAKAYAKA creates and advises businesses with simple ideas, using local materials and authentic local knowledge, thus respecting each person's real identity.

Aquitaine, where we met at the Bordeaux BEAUX ARTS. The wines:- Bordeaux, St Emilion, the Medoc… The beaches around Arcachon and Ferret, the forests of the Landes, Bird Island … Our creativity is always guided by the wish to share and pass on the emotions in scent, joie de vivre, and well being, of these regions of France that we love.

"LITTLE CANDLES" FROM MEDITATION TO PARTY Sharing light and the magic of candles are essential for us. Our distiller and perfumer partners allow us to add a natural dimension, the perfect note to contribute a beautiful and subtle olfactory pleasure. Let there be light at the party! No matter how many or few, we enjoy sharing the light of candles. Just one can show the path to take, just one helps you meet, just one helps you relax and breathe once more an inner calm. When there are several, their flames play together, they redesign the night and give birth to a surge of joy, of a party spirit, of charm and beauty, another spirit of union which gives respectful peace and nocturnal magic – becoming unforgettable.

In Europe:- Spain, Portugal and naturally in France where since 1994 TAKAYAKA created the concept of the perfume of well-being "RESPIREZ" for the company BASILIC ET PISTOU. For the company TOUR DE TABLE (creation of an essential oil diffuser in 2003) perfumes based on 100% pure and natural essential oils were showcased with the collection "Côté palmes", "Brin de miel", "Jardins d'hiver".

From the creative and design workshop TAKAYAKA (an old farmhouse in Mérignac) the Takayaka boutique offers ranges inspired by nature in strictly limited numbers.
